Infosys employee count - Up 7 pct YoY even as attrition picks up to 15.2 pct on-quarter basis

This was higher from the 10 per cent the company witnessed during the quarter ended 31 December 2020 while marginally lower than 15.3 per cent during the corresponding period in FY20. The information was shared by Infosys in its regulatory filing.
The total number of employees as on 31 March 2021 were 259, 619 which were up from 249,312 in the December 2020 quarter and 242,371 from the quarter ended 31 March 2020. On the year-on-year basis, there was a 7.1 per cent growth, while the quarter-on-quarter growth stood at 4.1 per cent.

“Attrition has picked up, largely reflecting a strong demand environment, but we remain confident of our employee engagement initiatives, vast talent pool and training capabilities to ensure seamless execution,” Chief Operating Officer (COO) Pravin Rao said.
"While our employees continue to work from home through this health crisis, we remain focused on their wellness, including facilitating vaccination rollout for eligible employees," Rao said.
The number of women employees as a percentage of total work force has also gone up to 38.6 per cent as on 31 December 2021. It was at 38.3 per cent in the previous quarter and at 37.8 per cent in the year ago period.
As per a Business Standard report, Infosys will hire around 25,000 freshers in FY22. The company will give offer letter to around 24,000 freshers and 1,000 will be hired through overseas campuses, the report said.
Infosys posted a 17.5% jump in quarterly net profit on Wednesday, lifted by large contract wins as the COVID-19 pandemic drove digitisation efforts in multiple sectors.
Infosys said its consolidated net profit climbed to 50.76 billion Indian rupees ($675.39 million) in the three months to March 31, from 43.21 billion rupees a year earlier.
