Railway refund during lockdown: Passengers get Rs 1,885 crore online for train tickets cancellation
Indian Railways has refunded Rs 1,885 crore to the passengers who had to cancel their tickets due to the Coronavirus lockdown.
Indian Railways has refunded Rs 1,885 crore to the passengers who had to cancel their tickets due to the Coronavirus lockdown. The Indian Railways informed about the train ticket refund in a written press statement yesterday evening. The refund has been done for the train tickets during the period of 21st March 2020 to 31st May 2020.
Indian Railways informed about the train ticket refund in a statement that said, "Railways has successfully refunded Rs 1885 Crore towards cancellation of tickets to passengers during the period 21.03.2020 to 31.05.2020 on tickets booked through the online mode. The entire cost of the ticket purchased has been refunded. The money has been transferred in the account from where the payment was earlier made at the time of the booking of the ticket. Due to the initiative taken by the national transporter, the passengers got their refund in time and did not face the inconvenience of visiting a PRS counter for collecting their amount."
