Mumbai EV Charging Stations, Points: Electric vehicle charging infrastructure is taking shape in the country. Indian Railways has started dedicated facilities for charging electric vehicles at stations in Mumbai. According to the Central Railway, one of the 18 zones of Indian Railways, has set up 9 EV charging facilities at stations in the city.

The 9 stations where EV charging facilities have been set up are Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus, Dadar, Byculla, Parel, Kurla, Lokmanya Tilak Terminus, Bhandup, Kalyan and Panvel.

EV charging facilities at Railway stations will boost e-mobility, as an important step towards environmental stability as it reduces carbon emission as well as improves the quality of life of people apart from facilitating low maintenance requirements.

"Central Railway pursuing Green Initiatives has set up Electric Vehicle (EV) charging facilities at Important Stations," the Central Railway tweeted.

The EV charging facilities at the Railway stations in Mumbai will be functional 24×7.

The Central Railway said that EV charging facilities at stations through a non-fare revenue scheme will generate additional income.

It is expected that the new EV charging centres at railway stations will provide affordable, efficient and reliable charging points and encourage people to opt for electric vehicles, thus promoting healthier air and a clean environment.
