Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train: The Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train project, which is anticipated to be delayed by four years from its original deadline of December 2023, has 26 per cent of the work finished, the railways minister informed.

Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail (MAHSR) Corridor will pass through a 21 km long undersea tunnel at Thane Creek. The estimated cost of MAHSR Project is 1,08,000 crore, which includes the cost of the tunnel portion.  

The anticipated timeline for the commencement of the project can be ascertained after completion of land acquisition, technical approvals and associated timelines.  

 The MAHSR project is based on world-class Japanese Shinkansen Technology which is renowned for reliability and safety. There are zero fatalities on Japanese Shinkansen since its operation in 1964.
