IRCTC budget hotels: Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) plans to build and operate budget hotels across the country, primarily focusing on tourist destinations. The Company has set a provision of 500 crores in the first phase of the project.

Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation is an Indian public sector undertaking that provides ticketing, catering, and tourism services for the Indian Railways.

As per the latest developments, the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) is in talks to various state governments regarding the project and proposals have been sent to respective state governments.

IRCTC's interaction with the governments of Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Uttarakhand is going on. The Governments of Nagaland, Arunachal, Assam have also been approached.

The Project of Budget Hotel is in advanced stage at Kohima and has nearly completed already since the project had started earlier, whereas the project in Khajuraho is expected to be completed by year-end or January 2023.Construction continues in Kevadiya, Gujarat of budget hotels.

Besides, IRCTC plans to build budget hotels in Lucknow, Banaras, Ayodhya in Uttar Pradesh. Discussion over land continues with the government. IRCTC has given a few inputs.

IRCTC has also sent proposals for Bhopal, Ujjain in Madhya Pradesh.

IRCTC currently runs budget hotels under the name Ginger, RailYatri Niwas. These are leased properties. IRCTC plans to acquire or construct hotels in the near future.

These budget hotels are established in Puri, Ranchi, New Delhi, Howrah and Katra.

IRCTC's successful execution of the plan will give a big boost to the Hotel and travel industry in India and budget hotels are a big opportunity. With the increase in Indian hotels, the Budget hotel revenue model can be an aid to IRCTC
