The Ministry of Railways took to the microblogging site X (formerly known as Twitter) on Tuesday to reiterate that placing any object on the railway track to obstruct train movement or tampering with the track in any way is a punishable offense. This communication from Indian Railways, one of the largest employers in the world, comes against the backdrop of several incidents where its staff acted promptly to prevent accidents involving trains, including instances of derailment.
Such actions can be fatal for train passengers, the Railways said, urging the public to act responsibly and to cooperate with authorities to ensure safe train travel.
