The demand for train tickets during the summer season skyrockets since schools are closed and people go on vacations throughout the country.

Getting a train reservation on the required date becomes quite a challenge.

Keeping the ease of passengers in mind, Indian Railways has announced to run 217 special trains across the country, which will take an extra 4,010 trips to connect the main railway stations of the country.

To ensure that the entire process becomes streamlined and the passengers don't fall prey to ill tactics, the Railways vowed to keep a close watch on touts' activities, specially who monopolise train reservations and overcharge needy passengers. 

While the special trains will run across the country, South West Railway will run the most trains.

A total of 69 trains on South West Railway will complete 1,768 trips. It is followed by Western Railway, which is running 40 trains to cover 846 trips.

South Central Railway is running 48 special trains for 528 trips. While 16 trains will ply North Western Railway for a total of 368 trips, Eastern Central Railway will run 10 trains covering 296 trips.

Central Railway have 10 special trips for 100 rounds, and Southern Railway has 20 trains for 76 trips.

Eastern Railway will run the least number of trains at four, which will take just 28 trips.   

There is disappointment for commuters travelling on the routes belonging to Northern Railway, North East Frontier Railway, East Coast Railway, North Central Railway, North East Railway, Konkan Railway, West Central Railway, South East Railway, South West Central Railway, as these zones are not running any special train for the summer season.
