Indian Railways Train Cancellation: Indian Railways is set to implement a new anti-collision system called Kavach across key routes to improve operational safety during foggy weather.
Indian Railways Train Cancellation: Fog in the winter season impacts several routes in northern parts of India as poor visibility due to fog leads to accidents, and this year too foggy conditions have affected train schedules.
Four trains have been cancelled due to the foggy weather conditions, a North Western Railway spokesperson said. To mitigate the danger due to fog, the Indian Railways cancels or reschedule several routes and timings.
A total of four trains have been affected for the next three months due to foggy weather conditions, Captain Shashi Kiran, Chief Public Relations Officer of North Western Railway said.
In the latest decision, the North Western Railway decided to cancel four trains for 3 months. Apart from this, it has also been announced that 4 trains that were canceled earlier have been restored.
Full List of Canceled trains - Indian Railways
1. Train number 22421 Delhi Sarai Rohilla - Jodhpur Express running daily between Delhi Sarai Rohilla and Jodhpur will remain canceled from December 1, 2022 to February 28, 2023 (90 trips).
2. Train number 22422 Jodhpur - Delhi Sarai Rohilla Express running daily between Jodhpur and Delhi Sarai Rohilla will remain canceled from December 1, 2022 to February 28, 2023 (90 trips).
3. Train number 22985 Udaipur City - Delhi Sarai Rohilla Express scheduled to run between Udaipur City and Delhi Sarai Rohilla on Saturdays will remain canceled from December 3, 2022 to February 25, 2023 (13 trips).
4. Train number 22986 Delhi Sarai Rohilla - Udaipur City Express scheduled to run on Sundays between Delhi Sarai Rohilla and Udaipur City will remain canceled from December 4, 2022 to February 26, 2023 (13 trips).
Full List of Restored trains - Indian Railways
Four trains that were cancelled earlier by the Railway Board have been restored. The Railways had earlier announced the cancellation of train number- 20473 and 20474 running between Delhi Sarai Rohilla-Udaipur-Delhi and train number- 22471 and 22472 running between Delhi Sarai Rohilla-Bikaner-Delhi Sarai Rohilla. All these four trains will run according to their regular time table.
IRCTC Ticket Refund Rule
Passengers having online tickets will get full refunds in the source account while those having counter tickets will have to visit the reservation centre to claim the refund.
Indian Railways working on technology to avoid train cancellations due to fog
All the trains will use Automatic Train Operation (ATO) technology and even in case of heavy fog or smog, they will be able to operate. Indian Railways (IR) is also set to implement a new anti-collision system called Kavach across key routes to improve safety.
Kavach is an Automatic Train Protection (ATP) system that can stop a train in case of manual lapses or other malfunctions. The technology will also help in increasing operational safety during foggy weather. IR has issued 11 tenders to install the system across 3,000km of the network and in 760 locomotives.
