As the lockdown restrictions ease, some more good news for the Indian Railways travellers. There could soon be a decision on the services related to food being served in the trains and other services.
A committee is likely to sit to take stock of the services in trains in the last week of this month. The pantry services in the trains were discontinued since the last lockdown in the wake of the Coronavirus pandemic. It is almost 18 months now since the services have been suspended.

The Railways has received inputs from various committees looking after passenger issues. The top sources in know of the development have revealed to Zee Business about the likelihood of resumption of the services.
The decision is likely to be taken on 22-23 October during a meeting of the Public Amenities Committee, sources have revealed. The discussion in the meeting is likely to be around serving of food and other services. The state-run transported could take a call on starting base kitchen, on-board kitchen, the sources have revealed.
Many departments and ministries have been given presentation with regards to this.
Though there is still no official word on this but it could augur well for IRCTC.
Catering and tourism is IRCTC’s core business. Catering business contributes around Rs 1000 cr in revenues for IRCTC. It gives on-boarding catering services. The company gives its pantry services in 19 Rajdhanis, 2 Tejas Express, 1 Vande Bharat, 22 Shatabdis, 19 Durontos and 296 mails.
