Indian Railways announces new update for general ticket passengers - Check update here
From April 1, you will be able to pay for general class train bookings on the Indian Railways network using the UPI mode of payment, which will significantly ease the ticket booking process for the passengers.
Indian Railways has made a host of changes in rules to enhance the experience of its passengers. One such change will soon enable individuals to pay for general tickets using quick response (QR) quick-response via the country’s all-popular Unified Payments Interface (UPI) payments platform. From April 1, you will be able to pay for general class train bookings on the Indian Railways network using the UPI mode of payment, which will significantly ease the ticket booking process for the passengers.
This essentially means that those looking to travel on a general train ticket on the Railways network won’t necessarily have to pay the money for the booking in cash, and will have an option to pay digitally using QR-based UPI apps, such as Google Pay and PhonePe.
The Railways will provide online ticket facilities at unreserved ticket counters at railway stations.
