In a major development, the second reservation chart will now be prepared by Indian Railways at least 30 minutes before scheduled/rescheduled time of departure of train. Accordingly, ticket booking facility, both online and on PRS (Passenger Reservation System) ticket counters, will be available before preparation of second chart.
Centre for Railway Information Systems (CRIS), which designs, develops, implements and maintains most of the important information systems of Indian Railways will make necessary modifications in the software accordingly in order to restore this provision with effect from 10 October 2020.
While the first reservation chart is prepared at least 4 hours before the scheduled departure of a train, the second reservation charts are prepared between 30 minutes to 5 minutes before the scheduled/rescheduled time of departure of the trains.
Thereafter, the available accommodation could be booked across PRS counters as well as through internet on first-come-first-serve basis till preparation of second reservation charts.
Cancellation of already booked tickets was also permitted during this period as per provisions of Refund Rules.
