Indian Railways: Indian Railways runs 10,000 trains a day, but some trains are given preference over others. Railways runs these trains on a high priority. These trains are so important that if a train comes in their way, railways stop that train to make way for high-priority trains. These trains are given a preference because railways run them for special purposes. Some of them are superfast or express trains. Let's see which trains are high on the priority list of Indian Railways.

ARME trains

Accidental Relief Medical Equipment, or ARME, are high-priority trains that are run in an emergency or after an accident. These trains have medicines and medical equipment for relief. Any train running ahead of them is stopped to make way for ARME trains so that they can reach the scene of an accident and provide relief material, and the injured are taken to the nearby hospital. These trains also travel to disaster-stricken areas.

President or VVIP trains

These trains are run to take the President of India or some special VVIPs from one place to another. These trains are so important that they are given preference over Rajdhani trains.

Suburban trains

These trains are the least important compared to local trains or other trains.

But during peak hours or crowded hours, other trains have to give passes to suburban trains.

It is done to keep in mind the convenience of the citizens of that particular place.

Superfast trains

Indian Railways has classified superfast trains on the basis of their speed, halt, numbers, and priority sequence.

Among all the superfast trains in the country, Railways gives the most importance to Rajdhani trains.

After Rajdhani Express trains, Shatabdi trains, Duranto Express, Tejas Express, Garib Rath Express, Double Daker Express, and Jan Shatabdi Express trains are given preference. 

Mail/Express trains

Mail and Express trains are those long-distance trains which connect one part of the country to the other.

Mail and Express trains are quite similar in terms of their route and timings. But the number of stoppages and speed are different.

After superfast trains, they are next on the priority list. 

Military Special trains

As you can tell from their name, these trains are used to carry military personnel from one place to another. These trains are also used to take soldiers to the border after they complete their training.
