Severe heatwave leaves India huffing, puffing, No respite for next 2 days
The country is in the grips of a severe heatwave and there likely will not be any respite, at least for the next few days. The India Meteorological Department said Sunday that the heatwave will persist over north Indian plains, central and south India for two more days before abating gradually.
Several places in India recorded temperatures of more than 45 degrees Celsius over the weekend. Temperatures in Rajasthan's Churu crossed 50 degrees Celsius on Sunday, making it the hottest place in the country.
