Retail inflation based on CPI stood at 7.04% in May. The CPI in May 2021 was 6.30%. Food inflation declined from 8.31% to 7.97%. Rural inflation reduced from 8.38% to 7.01%. Inflation rate reduced from 7.79% to 7.04%. The government removed import duty on 20-25 lakh tonnes of crude soybean sunflower oil.
