The Chandrayaan-3 lander and rover will be put to "sleep" soon to withstand the lunar night, Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) chief S. Somnath said on September 2. The lunar night is a period of 14 days when the moon is not facing the sun. During this time, the temperature on the moon can drop to -280 degrees Celsius.
