On Petrol-Diesel Price Excise duty was reduced by Rs 8 on petrol and Rs 6 on diesel by the central government. After this, petrol became cheaper by Rs 9.5 and diesel by Rs 7 across the country. The Finance Minister said- 'The government has also appealed to the states to reduce VAT. If the states also reduce in the same proportion, then a relief of up to Rs 15 can be given. After this, relief has started coming from the states as well. First of all, Kerala reduced VAT (Value added tax) on petrol by Rs 2.41. At the same time, VAT on diesel has been cut by Rs 1.36 per litre. After Kerala, Maharashtra also announced to reduce VAT on petrol and diesel. VAT was reduced by Rs 2.08 per litre on petrol and Rs 1.44 per litre on diesel. This will increase the additional burden of Rs 2500 on the exchequer of the Maharashtra government. After this, in Rajasthan too, an announcement was made to reduce VAT on petrol and diesel. VAT on petrol was reduced by Rs 2.48 per liter and on diesel by Rs 1.16 per litre. Petrol has reached Rs 96.72 per litre and diesel Rs 89.62 per litre in the national capital Delhi.
