Aadhaar holders can update various details including name, gender, etc. by means of Aadhaar self-service update portal.
Aadhaar is one of the most important Identification documents and it needs to be updated with all the important details of the holder. Aadhaar self-service update portal can be used for a number of activities. By means of the self-service update portal, an Aadhaar user can update certain details on his Aadhaar.
Aadhaar on Tuesday tweeted from its official Twitter handle stating that an Aadhaar user can update one's gender by means of the Aadhaar self-service update portal. however, it can be noted that an Aadhaar user will be able to update one's gender only once in a lifetime.

In order to update your gender in your Aadhaar you will need your mobile number registered in Aadhaar to avail this service. Also, it can be noted that no document is required for updating gender on Aadhaar.
Rs 50 will also be charged for each update request through the online portal. For updating one's gender through the self-service update portal, OTP authentication via mobile or face authentication will be required.
Other than gender, you can also update Name, Date of Birth, and Address through the Aadhaar self-service update portal. For submitting the supporting documents, one will be required to upload original coloured scanned copies of POA document as per the valid document list.
You can update your Name twice in lifetime, Gender once in lifetime, Date of Birth, once in lifetime subject to condition that present status of the DoB is declared/approximate. (Change in Date of Birth can be updated only for unverified DoB).
One can know that the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) issues a verifiable 12-digit number to every Indian resident. Currently, Aadhaar is one of the most important documents for one's proof of identity.
