Times Higher Education Ranking: Proud moment! 49 Indian institutes feature on the coveted list recognised globally
In the latest university rankings of Times Higher Education Emerging Economies, 49 institutions of India have got the place, including 25 in the top 200. The 2019 ranking consists of nearly 450 universities from 43 countries, across four continents, while 378 universities figured in the last year. For India, this year's table presents a mixed picture, with several new entrants, according to the London-based Times Higher Education (THE), a global organisation that produces data, analysis and expertise on higher education.
The other Indian institutions in the list are: Tezpur University (116), Delhi University, Jadhavpur University (130), Kashi Hindu University (134), IIT Hyderabad (139), IIT Guwahati (140), Amrita University (141), Punjab University (150), IIT Bhubaneshwar (153), NIT Rourkela (171), IIT Dhanbad (172), Aligarh Muslim University (180), Jamia Milia Islamia (187), Sri Venkateshwara University (198). China remains the most represented nation in the premier list, with 72 institutions in total, claiming four of the table's top five positions. Tsinghua University surpasses Peking University as this year's top institution overall, while Zhejiang University rises three positions to 3rd, the University of Science and Technology of China climbs one place to 4th, with Lomonosov Moscow State University completing 2019's top five, Times Higher Education ranking report added.
