PM-KISAN Samman Nidhi Yojana Rs 2,000 Payment Release Today: The Narendra Modi 3.0 government released the 17th instalment of Rs 2,000 under its flagship farmer support scheme Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) Yojana on Tuesday, June 18, in a move set to benefit around 9.3 crore growers. PM Narendra Modi - who took office for a third straight term last week - released the 17th PM-KISAN payment - amounting to about Rs 20,000 crore - from Varanasi. The PM-KISAN scheme provides direct financial support to farmers' families through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) route. The PM Kisan scheme - also known as the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana - is the Narendra Modi government’s programme aimed at providing financial support to the tune of Rs 6,000 to eligible farmers in three equal instalments each year. 

The Prime Minister also distributed certificates to more than 30,000 self-help groups known as Krishi Sakhis, and described the Krishi Sakhi initiative as a strong step in the direction of creating three crore ‘lakhpati didis’ - an initiative aimed at catalysing economic empowerment and financial independence among women in rural areas.

After being sworn in as Prime Minister for the third time, Narendra Modi signed his first file authorising the release of the 17th instalment, reflecting his government's commitment towards farmer welfare. An initiative launched by the Narendra Modi government in 2019, the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) provides income support to the country's small and marginal farmers.
