Martyr’s Day 2023, Shaheed Diwas 2023: On his 75th death anniversary, President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi remembered Gandhiji and offered floral tributes at his memorial.
Martyr’s Day 2023, Shaheed Diwas 2023: Martyr’s Day, also known as Shaheed Diwas, is observed every year on January 30. It marks the death anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, who was affectionately known as "Bapu" and "Father of the Nation".
On his 75th death anniversary, President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi remembered Gandhiji and offered floral tributes at his memorial.
A two-minute silence was observed in honour of Gandhiji at Rajghat. He was assassinated on this day in 1948 by Nathuram Godse.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday, January 30, paid tributes to Mahatma Gandhi at Rajghat in New Delhi on the occasion of Martyrs' Day. "I bow to Bapu on his Punya Tithi and recall his profound thoughts. I also pay homage to all those who have been martyred in the service of our nation. Their sacrifices will never be forgotten and will keep strengthening our resolve to work for a developed India," Prime Minister Modi tweeted.
