In a display of patriotic spirit, the Indian Army contingent participating in the 10th edition of the Joint Exercise Mitra Shakti celebrated India’s 78th Independence Day with various activities at the Army Training School in Maduruoya, Sri Lanka, on August 15, 2024.

During the opening ceremony, Major General UKDPP Udugama of the Sri Lanka Army took the Guard of Honour from the joint marching contingent of both armies.

Major General Udugama highlighted the exercise's role in building camaraderie, strengthening engagement, and reinforcing alliances between Sri Lanka and India. The Indian Army Contingent Commander added that Mitra Shakti provides an excellent platform for sharing operational experiences and improving interoperability.

The Indian contingent, including members of the Rajputana Rifles, is joined by engineers, signals, and medical detachments, as well as an Army Assault K9 unit, to engage in various tactical drills.
