e-SHRAM Portal: The national database for workers of unorganised sector was launched by Narendra Modi led central government on August 26, 2021. The government will also provide e-SHRAM card to the workers. The workers from the unorganised sectors must note that they can now register on the e-SHRAM portal. They can register on the portal by logging in to the official website of e-SHRAM portal at eshram.gov.in or through the CSCs.
e-SHRAM portal: One Nation One Registration
Recently, the Ministry of Labour has tweeted that the workers will not have to register time to time after registering once. The tweet said, "On the principal of 'One Nation, One Registration', Unorganised Workers are now being linked through a simplified system. e-SHRAM card with UAN
Universal Account Number is a 12 digits number uniquely assigned to each unorganized worker after registration on eSHRAM portal. UAN number will be a permanent number, that is, once assigned, it will remain unchanged for the worker’s lifetime. e-SHRAM portal: Key Objective
The Ministry of Labour has also tweeted about the key objective of the e-SHRAM portal from its official Twitter handle. The tweet said, "In times of any national crisis like COVID-19, financial help through DBT will be transferred directly in the bank account of the Unorganised Worker registered on e-SHRAM Portal." e-SHRAM portal: How to register?
In order to register for the e-SHRAM portal, one has to login to the official website at eshram.gov.in. Then one has to click on the 'Register on e-SHRAM' link which is present on the home page. Then the person will have to enter the Aadhaar linked mobile number and captcha code and click on send OTP. The user will then have to follow the subsequent instructions to complete the registration process. It can be noted that if a worker does not have Aadhaar linked mobile number, he/ she can visit nearest CSC’s and register through Biometric authentication. Source: Ministry of Labour Twitter

The central government has developed e-SHRAM portal which will be a centralized database of unorganized workers seeded with Aadhaar. After registering, he/she will get an Accidental Insurance cover of 2 Lacs under PMSBY. In future, all the social security benefits of unorganized workers will be delivered through this portal. In emergency and national pandemic like situations, this database may be utilized to provide necessary assistance to the eligible unorganized workers. Source: eshram.gov.in
