Chart of the day: Forbes richest Indian list
Forbes’ edition of most affluent Indians, released on Friday had Mukesh Ambani, managing director of Reliance Industries on top of the charts with net worth of $22.7 billion.
Dilip Shanghvi, founder of Sun Pharmaceuticals ranked second on the list with a net worth of $16.9 billion. However his wealth was estimated to have dropped $1.1 billion due to the decline in shares of his company.
Majority of the richest Indians on the list were incidentally from the pharmaceutical sector, with 18 personalities making the list.
With a total net worth of $15.2 billion the Hinduja brothers ranked third and Azim Premji, owner of Wipro came in at fourth position with a net worth of $ 15 billion.
The total net worth of the top five billionaires on the list which amounted to $ 83.7 billion was also equivalent to the cost of 1,230 Mars orbiters, 18 times the cost of the Rio Olympics and the price of over 128 million iPhone 7, Pravin Palande, Neeraj Gangal & Pramod Mathew from Forbes India said.
