7th Pay Commission Latest News Updates Today: From Rs 5000 gift hike to teachers salaries, here is what really grabbed attention

Centre has taken a big step to revise the rule related to Central Civil Services, allowing them to take gifts. The Group A and Group B officers, therefore, will now be able to take gifts up to Rs 5,000, while Group C staff can take gifts up to Rs 2,000. In any other case, a central government employee shall not accept any gift without the sanction of the Government, if the value exceeds -(i) Rs 5,000 in the case of Government servants holding any Group 'A'or Group B'post; (ii) Rs 2,000 in the case of Government servant holding any Group 'C'post; and (iii) Government servant, being a member of the Indian delegation or otherwise, receive and retain gifts from foreign dignitaries in accordance with the provisions of The Foreign Contribution (Acceptance or Retention of Gifts or Presentation) Rules, 2012, as amended from time to time. According to the latest provision, if a government officials goes abroad as a member of an Indian delegation, he is entitled to accept gifts under the Foreign Contribution (Acceptance and Retention of Gifts) Rules 2012, but was prohibited to take a gift of up to Rs 1,000. The Union Public Service Commission has invited applications for the post of Assistant Employment Officer (AEO) in the Directorate General of Employment at the Ministry of Labour and Employment, according to the notification on August 1, 2019. The biggest benefit of this post is to get the 7th pay commission pay matrix! As per the 7th Pay Commission recommendations approved by the central government, the Group-B post's pay scale will be in Level-6 in the pay matrix. Notably, a fitment factor is a multiplication number that is used to arrive at a common result. The 7th CPC multiplies this figure with the basic pay in 6th CPC regime (Pay in Pay band added with Grade pay) for the purpose of determining basic pay in revised pay structure. As per the 7th Pay Commission recommendations, private schools cannot claim lack of funds as the reason for not providing salary and allowances to their teachers as making such an excuse may land them trouble, according to a latest Delhi High Court order. The HC an even order a probe into accounts of such schools. The court ordered an enquiry into account of a private school that argued lack of funds for not paying salary and allowances to teachers as per the 7th CPC. Image source: IANS

In this case, the Delhi HC ordered an independent audit of the account books of the school, appointing a Chartered Accountant, who will audit the accounts since 2016 and submit his report to the court in three weeks.  The HC also asked the Delhi government's Directorate of Education to appoint an official to assist the CA. Notably, Delhi government's Directorate of Education (DoE) has issued guidelines for implementation of 7th Pay Commission recommendations in private unaided schools of the national capital in 2017.
