We are less than a week away from Diwali and the country is gearing up to celebrate the auspicious day. In its unique initiative, Zee Media celebrated the festival in Mauritius on October 19. The grand Zee Media Diwali Festival was celebrated at the Bus Terminus, Quatre Bornes and showcased a mix of culture from both the countries. The event was attended by thousands of people who enjoyed every bit of it. The celebrations were broadcast on Zee Media's Zee News and Zee Business channels.

Zee Media Diwali Festival was made special by singer Abhijeet Bhattacharya who performed some of his iconic songs "Chaand Taare" from Yes Boss and the title song from Main Hoon Na. However, the night was made special by Punjabi sensation Guru Randhawa. He set the stage of fire with 'High Rated Gabru'. The song is a major hit among the youth and has also been used in a recent Bollywood film.

The event also saw performances from Sanket and Nainika of 'Dance India Dance' stars, and Sugandha Date, winner of 'Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Little Champ'. Zee Media Diwali Festival was hosted by Zain Imam amid the presence of thousands, commemorating the cultural interaction of India and Mauritius. Diwali holds a great significance as it marks the victory of good over evil. It is on this day that Lord Ram came back to Ayodhya after defeating Ravana. The festival is celebrated across the world with great enthusiasm. It is celebrated in around 25 countries with at least 10 declaring it as a holiday.

In Mauritius, Diwali is celebrated by the Hindu population over a period of five days. It is also celebrated in countries like UK, US, Australia, Sindh in Pakistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Thailand, New Zealand, Kenya, Tanzania, South Africa, Guyana, Netherlands, Canada and Ireland.
