With the Lok Sabha Elections 2024 halfway through, the Income Tax (I-T) department is getting more alert than ever as it has seized cash, bullion and jewellery 50 per cent more than it seized in the last Parliamentary polls (2019 Lok Sabha elections).

The Income Tax has seized cash, bullion, and jewellery worth approximately Rs 560 crore.

The seized jewellery is just double the last election's figures.

The I-T department seized the maximum cash, bullion, and assets from Karnataka, New Delhi, and Tamil Nadu.

A total of cash, bullion, and jewellery worth Rs 390 crore was seized in the 2019 elections, whereas after the current four phases, the value of seized assets has increased to more than Rs 560 crore.

So far, four phases of voting for the Lok Sabha Elections 2024 has taken place. There are three more rounds to go.

The results of the elections will be announced on June 4.
