Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Tuesday unveiled a Rs 39.45 lakh crore budget, with higher spending on highways to affordable housing to fire up the key engines of the economy to sustain a world-beating recovery from the pandemic. The FM primed up spending on infrastructure to create jobs and boost economic activity.
Post Budget 2022 presentation, Editor In Chief of Zee News, WION, Zee Business - Sudhir Chaudhary and Executive Editor of Zee Business - Swati Khandelwal spoke to Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman to know more about Budget 2022 and its various aspects.
The FM during the exclusive interview to Zee Business said that both this year, and last year it was really challenging to prepare Budget as Covid hit us and it is still there. She thanked the people of India and applauded PM Modi Narendra Modi for the work during Covid-19 crisis.
Talking about crypto, the FM said, "Crypto can be digital asset but not currency."
Moreover, she vowed to get economy back on track with the help of spending money on infrastructure.
Speaking about farmers, she said, "This year there are lot of provisions in the Budget for farmers."
"We have special focus on the recovery of SMEs," she said while talking what is there in Budget 2022 for small and medium businesses.
Talking about corporate tax, the FM said, "The slash in rates has helped industry in many ways."
For middle class, FM Sitharaman clarified that this Budget has many things for them.

PM Modi lauds Budget 2022
Earlier, welcoming and applauding the Budget 2022, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday said the focus of the Union Budget is on providing basic amenities to the poor, middle class and youth. PM Modi asserted that it is imperative that India becomes self-reliant.
In his address on 'Aatmanirbhar Arthvyavastha' at a BJP event, PM Modi on Budget 2022 said that post-Covid, the possibility of a new world order is emerging and the initial indicators of it are already visible. A big change is coming in the way the world is viewing India, he said.
"People, globally, want to see an empowered and strong India. It is imperative for us that we take our country forward at a rapid pace and strengthen it across several sectors," PM Modi added.
