Indian Railways provides Tatkal ticket booking facility on payment of premium charges on ‘first come first served’ basis. According to IRCTC, e-tickets can be booked for selected trains one day in advance excluding the date of journey from the train originating station. On the opening day, the tickets can be booked 10 AM for AC class (1A/2A/3A/CC/EC/3E) and at 11 AM for Non- AC class(SL/FC/2S).
However, tatkal I-tickets cannot be booked from the official website: www.services.irctc.co.in. It is also advisable to the passengers to check the availability for Tatkal Quota before booking and there is no concession in Tatkal booking. This restriction applies to Sr. citizen concession also. Again, modification of ticket in any form is not permitted in Tatkal ticket.

Passengers cannot claim refund in case of the cancellation of confirmed Tatkal tickets. For contingent cancellation & waitlisted Tatkal ticket cancellations, charges will be deducted as per existing Railway rules. Partial cancellation of Tatkal e-tickets is allowed, as per IRCTC.
