Lok Sabha Elections are underway across the country. Large parts of Maharashtra have already voted on April 11, April 18, and April 23 to select 31 MPs. The state will now vote on April 29 to select 17 MPs from Mumbai North, Mumbai North-West, Mumbai North-East, Mumbai North-Central, Mumbai South -Central, Mumbai South, Nandurbar, Dhule, Dindori, Nashik,  Palghar, Bhiwandi, Kalyan, Thane, Shirur, Shirdi, and Maval.

The elections in India are a high-stakes event, which involves mobilization of not only poll officials but also of troops and poll machinery. Keeping this in mind, the Western Railway has decided to run a special train on April 29 and 30 for the staff going on poll duty.

"To facilitate the staff attending the election duty, Western Railway will run an extra special train in the early hours of 29th April, 2019 as well as o­ne in the intermittent night of 29th & 30th April, 2019, leaving from Virar to Dahanu Road and from Dahanu Road to Virar respectively. The Virar - Dahanu Road Special EMU local (Spl – 1) will leave from Virar at 04.20 hrs o­n 29.04.2019 and will reach Dahanu Road at 05.28 hrs," said the WR in a release.

In return, the Dahanu Road - Virar Special MEMU train (Spl – 2) will leave from Dahanu Road at 23.55 hrs o­n 29.04.2019 and will reach Virar at 01.10 hrs o­n 30.04.2019. Both the trains will be 12 car train and will halt at all stations. Station to station timings will be as under:

The Maharashtra government has already declared a holiday in the regions going to poll on April 29.
