West Bengal Lok Sabha Election Winners List 2024: The All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) - also known as TMC - was all set to be victorious in the Lok Sabha polls in West Bengal, the state with the third largest representation in the lower house of Parliament, as preliminary polling data showed the party was leading in 29 out of the 42 seats in the state. According to data available on the Election Commission of India (ECI) portal, leading party candidates included Jagadish Chandra Barma Basunia (Coochbehar), Khalilur Rahaman (Jangipur), Pathan Yusuf (Baharampur), Abu Taher Khan (Murshidabad), Partha Bhowmick (Barrackpur), Mahua Moitra (Krishnanagar), Sougata Ray (Dum Dum) and Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar (Barasat) as of 6 pm. 

While the All India Trinamool Congress was ahead in 29 out of the 42 seats, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Indian National Congress (INC) party were leading in 12 and one, respectively, according to the counting trends.

In the 2019 general elections, the BJP made significant gains while the Trinamool Congress (TMC) remained the dominant party in West Bengal. While the TMC bagged 22 out of the 42 Parliamentary seats in the state, 18 seats went to the BJP and the Indian National Congress secured two seats.

 

In the 2014 general elections as well, the TMC won 34 out of the 42 seats in the state while two seats went to the BJP.
