Delhi-Noida weather updates: A blanket of dense fog engulfed many areas in Gautam Buddha Nagar area on Tuesday morning leading to poor visibility. Many Noida residents posted pictures on microblogging site, Twitter, of the dense fog engulfing their areas.

The city witnessed dense fog after a sudden drop in temperature due to rains for the past few days in the entire Delhi-NCR region as well as several other districts in Uttar Pradesh. 

 

 

 

Schools remain shut for second day due to heavy rains

 

The Lucknow district administration declared Tuesday a holiday for all schools and higher educational institutions owing to the torrential rains that have been pounding several areas of Uttar Pradesh.

School closures for Monday had been imposed by district officials in Lucknow, Noida, Ghaziabad, Agra, Meerut, Aligarh, Mathura, Kanpur, Etah, Mainpuri, and Firozabad earlier on Sunday. On Monday, it rained heavily in several areas of Uttar Pradesh throwing lives in the state out of gear.

On Sunday, the city woke up to waterlogging in several parts after heavy rainfall in the past two days. Several parts of Noida and Ghaziabad also witnessed waterlogging due to heavy showers. The IMD in its latest update said that rain and thunderstorms are likely to strike parts of Uttar Pradesh and Delhi-NCR region from October 9-12. "Thunderstorm accompanied by lightning is very likely at isolated places from October 9-12. Heavy rain is very likely at isolated places over the state (Uttar Pradesh) on October 10," it said.
