Weather Update:  A dense layer of fog engulfed parts of the national capital on Sunday morning, December 25. This reduced visibility to 100 metres, and affected road and rail traffic, while the Ridge area recorded a cold wave.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), cold waves will continue in Delhi for two days,

A rapid drop in temperature was also observed in Uttar Pradesh due to the drizzle in many cities.

Heavy snowfall with rain has been predicted in the mountains of Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand from Sunday.

Cold wave alert - Delhi
The national capital will continue to be in the grip of cold waves on Sunday and Monday, according to the IMD. Its temperature may come down to 4 degrees in the next 48 hours. 

It is expected that the maximum temperature on Sunday will be 19 degrees whereas on Monday it will be 20 degrees. 

Also, cold wave conditions will continue in many areas of Delhi-NCR. On December 26, dense fog and cold waves have been predicted in the morning.

Minus temperature likely in these states
There is a possibility of rain along with snowfall on the mountains of Ladakh, Jammu-Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand from December 25, according to the IMD. 

Cold waves may prevail in Himachal, Punjab, Chandigarh and Delhi. For the next five days, a severe cold wave may continue in western and eastern Rajasthan.

Fluctuations in temperature continue in Madhya Pradesh. The temperature is increasing due to the direction of the winds. It should be noted that the temperature has dropped rapidly in western Madhya Pradesh. 

Cold winds coming from North India are affecting MP. Where the temperature is expected to drop further in the next few days.

Improvement in Delhi's AQI
An improvement can be seen in Delhi's Air Quality Index (AQI) on Christmas. The average AQI of the national capital has been recorded at 297 on December 25. 

While the AQI in Faridabad adjacent to Delhi will be 244 today. Whereas AQI 243 in Gurugram, 233 in Ghaziabad, 254 in Noida and AQI 272 in Greater Noida.
