Weather Today: India Meteorological Department (IMD) fairly widespread rainfall activity over Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh today and on Tuesday (24 May) along with isolated to scattered rainfall activity over Rajasthan, north Madhya Pradesh according to a release.

The IMD also forecasts fairly widespread to widespread light/moderate rainfall with isolated thunderstorm, lightning and gusty winds over parts of Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand, this release said.

Isolated Thunder squall activity is also likely to occur at 50-60 kmph over Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana-Chandigarh-Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and East Rajasthan today.

It said that the rainfall intensity will likely be at its peak on 23 May and gradual reduction from 24 May, 2022.

Isolated hailstorm are also likely to occur over Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand on 23 and 24 May, IMD said.

Isolated heavy rainfall also likely over Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand today.

Duststorm activity at isolated places very likely over Rajasthan today.

Scattered to fairly widespread light/moderate rainfall with isolated thunderstorm, lightning and gusty winds likely over Bihar, Jharkhand, Gangetic West Bengal and Odisha during next 2 days and reduce thereafter to isolated light rainfall over the region, the release said.

The IMD predicts an isolated heavy rainfall also likely over Odisha on 24 May, 2022.

Scattered to fairly widespread light, moderate rainfall very likely over Assam-Meghalaya and

Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim and isolated to

scattered rainfall over Arunachal Pradesh during next 5 days.

Scattered to fairly widespread rainfall with thundersquall, lightning, gusty winds very likely over Andaman & Nicobar Islands during next 3 days and isolated heavy rainfall is also likely on 23 May.

Squally weather with wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph gusting to 60 kmph likely over East central

Bay of Bengal and adjoining north Andaman Sea and southwest Bay of Bengal along and off Sri Lanka

coast during next 2 days.

Strong winds of 40-50 kmph gusting to 60 kmph likely over northeast Arabian Sea along and off

north Gujarat coast, south west Arabian Sea, northwest Arabian Sea during next 2 days.

Maximum Temperature forecast and Heat Wave Warnings:

No significant change in maximum temperatures over most parts of Northwest & Central India during next 2 days and rise by 2-4°C thereafter.

No significant change in maximum temperatures very likely over rest parts of the country during next 5 days.

 Heat wave warnings:

No heat wave condition is likely to develop over any parts of the country during next 5 days except over West Rajasthan, where isolated heat wave conditions are likely on 26 and 27 May.
