As June draws to a close, heavy rains are expected to impact several regions across the country this weekend, including Delhi, Haryana, Chandigarh, Kerala, and Uttar Pradesh. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted that these states will experience heavy rainfall from June 28 to June 30, with amounts reaching up to 204.4 mm.

This morning (June 28, 2024), the national capital witnessed heavy rains, in some relief to citizens from the scorching heat until June 29.

The temperature in Delhi has dropped to 35.4 degrees Celsius after recording 5.2 mm of rainfall from 8:30 am to 5:30 pm on Thursday, June 27, 2024.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD), the country's weather office, has predicted very heavy rainfall in several states across the country and issued an orange alert for over a dozen regions.

The western region of Uttar Pradesh (UP) is expected to receive heavy rainfall ranging between 115.5 mm and 204.4 mm over the next two days, from June 28 to June 29.

During the same period, Delhi, Haryana, and Chandigarh will also experience relief from the prolonged heat, according to the weather office.

Meanwhile, the IMD has also forecasted that Konkan and Goa will experience heavy rainfall of up to 204.4 mm over the next three days, from June 28 to June 30.

  • Odisha: Up to 204.4 mm of rain till June 29
  • Assam and Meghalaya: Rain from June 29 to June 30
  • Bihar: Up to 115.6 mm of rain on June 29
  • Uttarakhand: Up to 115.6 mm of rain till June 29
  • Coastal Karnataka: Very heavy rainfall with up to 204.4 mm on June 28
  • Light to moderate spells of rain in several states, including Rajasthan, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Jammu Division, North Madhya Maharashtra, Vidarbha, North Konkan, North Chhattisgarh, Telangana, and Sikkim.
