If you are looking for a job in Qatar, here's something you must not do. The Indian Embassy in Doha, capital of Qatar, has issued a notification, warning Indian job seekers against falling prey to fake recruiting agents in Qatar. The Indian Embassy in Doha has tweeted, "Please do not trust any recruiting agent who promises you a job in Qatar on a business/visit visa."

"Always ask for a copy of the agent`s Qatar ID and save it carefully, so that the Embassy can help you better, in the event of any fraud," it added. 

Indians constitute around 25 per cent of the total population of Qatar. As per reports, there were around 650,000 Indians in Qatar as of 2017. The total population of Qatar was around 26.5 lakhs in 2017.

If you get a job offer in Qatar, you must make yourself doubly sure of the authenticity of the agent. For this, always ask for a copy of the agent's ID. 

Controversial visa rule to end

By the end of this year, Qatar will end the controversial exit visa system for foreign workers, according to the International Labour Organisation (ILO) of the United Nations. Qatar had scrapped exit visa for a large number of workers last year. This year it will be extended to all remaining categories of workers, according to media reports. 

New rule in the UAE

Last year, UAE had introduced new rules for Indians seeking jobs in the country. As per the new rules, Indians travelling to the UAE for jobs need to register online at the e-Migrate portal. Twenty four hours before their departure, Indian citizens need to complete the registration at  www.emigrate.gov.in. They will be offloaded for failing to register themselves.
