Want Indian Railways job? Check out this IRCTC recruitment warning

The Indian Railways on Monday alerted people about traps laid by touts running fake IRCTC job rackets. In a Twitter post, the Indian Railways warned against touts who fleece innocent people by giving them fake assurances of getting them Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) jobs. IRCTC is Railways' e-ticketing arm.  The Indian Railways cautioned people to refrain from falling into their net, as anti-social elements were making false promises of providing jobs in IRCTC. 

The national transporter has clarified that IRCTC has not initiated any recruitment drive recently or in the past. Railway stated that  if any employment opportunity comes it would be available on its official website: irctc.com and the Railways and IRCTC would made it public through newspapers. It has also asked people to report the touts involved in the IRCTC job racket to authorities. The Ministry of Railways urged people to file a complaint in this regard with the police.

The fake job rackets are a very common phenomenon in India. Touts target unsuspecting people from various states who are looking for government jobs desperately. In February this year a fake railway job racket was busted at Sealdah in West Bengal after Crime Intelligence Branch (CIB) and  Railway Protection Force (RPF) laid a trap and apprehended three persons at the station. The gang collected over Rs 80 lakh from youths belonging to several states including West Bengal, Jharkhand, Bihar and Maharashtra. Gang members assured these youth of Railway jobs. These touts also ran fake lists of appointments. 

Meanwhile, IRCTC recently launched e-wallet for booking rail tickets including Tatkal tickets. IRCTC e-wallet users can now book rail e-tickets including Tatkal quota tickets via its mobile android app and IRCTC Rail Connect.  The Indian Railways' subsidiary company's e-wallet enables users to deposit money in advance with IRCTC.
