LS Polls 2024: Around 47.53 per cent voter turnout was recorded till 10 PM today, May 20. In Phase 5 of Lok Sabha elections 2024, 49 constituencies in six states and two Union Territories (UTs) are undergoing voting. Meanwhile, EVM glitches in some places, and a poll boycott in a village of Uttar Pradesh was also reported.

Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Jharkhand, Odisha and Maharashtra are the states and UTs Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh are slated to cast their ballots under Phase 5. Phase 5 voting comes after the conclusion of voting in four out of seven phases of the Lok Sabha elections on April 19, April 26, May 7, and May 13, respectively. 

According to the figures made available by the Election Commission around 10 PM, the approximate polling percentage was 59.06. West Bengal recorded the highest polling percentage at 73.14, while Maharashtra recorded the lowest at 53.51 per cent. 

Let's take a look at the voter turnout percentage in all six states and both UTs.

Odisha: Odisha recorded 62.23 per cent voter turnout till 10 PM in the polling for five Lok Sabha constituencies and 35 Assembly segments on Monday, officials said.

Jharkhand: Over 63.06 per cent voter turnout was recorded till 10 PM on Monday in the bypoll to the Gandey assembly seat in Jharkhand, officials said.

Uttar Pradesh: A voter turnout of 57.79 per cent was recorded till 10 PM in Uttar Pradesh where polling is underway for the fifth phase of the Lok Sabha elections in 14 constituencies.

West Bengal: A total of 73.14 per cent of the 1,25,23,702 electorate cast their vote till 10 PM in seven Lok Sabha constituencies of West Bengal that went to polls in the fifth phase on Monday, an Election Commission official said.

Maharashtra: A voter turnout of 53.51 per cent was recorded till 10 PM on Monday in 13 Lok Sabha constituencies in Maharashtra as voting was underway for the fifth and final phase of general elections in the state, as per poll authorities.

Bihar: Around 53.78 per cent of over 52.35 lakh voters in five Lok Sabha constituencies in Bihar have exercised their franchise till 10 PM on Monday, officials said.

Ladakh: The fifth round of the Lok Sabha elections for 49 parliamentary constituencies saw a cumulative voter turnout of 68.47 per cent till 10 PM, as per the data shared by the Election Commission.

Jammu and Kashmir: Around 55.79 per cent voter turnout recorded till 10 PM in J&K.
