Vijayadashami 2022: RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat's Dussehra speech touches upon women empowerment, comprehensive population policy

Vijayadashami 2022: From women empowerment to India’s growing economy, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat touched upon many such topics during his Vijayadashami 2022 celebrations speech underway at RSS Headquarters in Nagpur, reported news agency ANI.

Santosh Yadav, the first woman to climb Mount Everest, is the chief guest. For the first time in the history of RSS, a woman has been invited as the chief guest for Vijayadashami celebrations. Besides, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari and Maharashtra Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis were also present.

“We must empower our women and society can't progress without women,” Bhagwat said in his speech. He echoed the thoughts of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the women, who during his Independence speech had promoted the empowerment, security, and safety of women.

Talking about India’s stand on global issues Bhagwat also said, “Our prestige and credibility increased in the world. The way we helped Sri Lanka, and our stand during the Ukraine-Russia conflict show that we are being heard.”

India’s economy is returning to normalcy post-Covid and world economists are predicting that it will grow further, the RSS chief also noted. He added, “Our players from various sports and fields are making the country proud.”

On Sanatan Dharma, Bhagwat said, “The obstacle that hinders our Sanatana Dharma is created by forces who are inimical to Bharat’s unity and progress. They spread Fake Narratives, encourage Anarchy, engage in Criminal acts, and foment Terror, conflict, and social unrest.”

Stating that English is important for a career as a myth, the RSS chief pointed out, “The New Education Policy should lead to students becoming highly cultured, good human beings who are also inspired by patriotism– this is everyone’s desire. Society needs to support this actively.”

“Populations require resources. If it grows without building resources, it becomes a burden. There is another view in which population is considered an asset. We need to work on a population policy for all keeping both aspects in mind,” Bhagwat also said in his speech.

RSS chief further stated that population imbalance leads to changes in geographical boundaries; population control and religion-based population balance is an important subject that can no longer be ignored, so a holistic population policy should be brought and should be equally applicable to all.
