In order to give fresh impetus to the textile sector, the Narendra Modi government has been taking several steps. The latest development is now coming from Uttar Pradesh where a textile park will likely be developed. Zee Business’ Mansi Dave has this detailed report.

Mansi Dave said that the government is working on developing a new textile park in UP. The textile park will be developed in Noida over 150 acres of land and will house around 152 factories. This will be the first textile park in Noida.

The announcement has been made by Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) about the development of an apparel export cluster.    

An estimated investment of Rs 8365 cr is expected to be made on this project, Dave said. Around 5 lakh people are also expected to get employment from this project, she further said.  

The development of this textile park is expected to take place in phases. The first phase will begin from January 2022 and 91 textile and garments factory will be developed, she further said. She also said that the Uttar Pradesh Government is planning to develop many such textile parks like this.  

The textile parks may be developed in Meerut, Jhansi, Agra, Lucknow, Varanasi, Gorakhpur and Kanpur. 

During the budget, announcements were made to promote mega textile and technical textile, she said. The government proposed to make seven mega textile parks over the period of three years, she added. The plan was to develop textile markets on 1000 acres of land. The government sanctioned 59 textile parks out of which 22 have already been developed, she further said.

The development of a textile park in UP is an extension of the government’s plans. The government also announced a budget of Rs 10,683 cr for a PLI scheme for technical textile. 

All these steps are expected to promote textile sector in India, she said.
