Changing your house means you have to put in a lot of hard work. While moving objects from one place to another is definitely a big piece of work, a bigger task is to get the address updated in all the government documents including the Aadhaar card. Fortunately, the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has provided a facility through which one can update or change the address mentioned in your Aadhaar card. This can be done from your home through UIDAI's online portal.

The only thing that you need to access the service is that your mobile number should be registered with UIDAI. This is because you would require an OTP to complete the process which can only be received on your smartphone through the number registered.

How to update or change address on Aadhaar card online?

1. Go to the official UIDAI website.

2. Click on the 'Proceed to update Address' tab.

3. Enter details and upload a valid supporting document.

4. The address will be updated.

What if you don't a valid address proof?

If you just moved into a new house and don't have an address validation letter, you can still update the address. For this, you need to 'Request for Address Validation Letter'. This process includes four steps -

- Request is initiated.

- Address verifier consents.

- The request has to be submitted.

- Use secret code to complete

Apart from the online process, you can also update address on the Aadhaar card by visiting your nearest Aadhaar centre. You need to carry valid and original documents for updation at these centres. These documents are scanned and returned.
