UIDAI: How to update mobile number in Aadhaar Card? Check this step by step guide

Aadhaar is an important document that acts as an identity proof for every citizen to get different government social security schemes. Aadhaar is used for various other purposes related to identity or address proof. It is mandatory for the subscribers to link their mobile number with Aadhaar. In order to use Aadhaar in banks, online payments, KYC or any other purpose, therefore it is important to update mobile number with Aadhaar as early as possible.
One can also file his/her Income Tax Return using Aadhaar only, if mobile number is already updated. Also UIDAI has made it easier for citizens to update or correct their Aadhar card both online and offline.
Here are the steps to update your mobile number in the Aadhaar card:
Step 1: Open the UIDAI website
Step 2: Choose the option under the Aadhar update tab which will redirect the user to the Aadhar Self Service Portal
Step 3: The user needs to enter his/her Aadhar number, and the Captcha text
Step 4: Request for OTP
Step 5: The OTP will be sent to the user's existing mobile number. After submitting the OTP, the user will be redirected to a new page where the desired details can be updated.
Step 6: Under 'Select field(s) to update', select 'Mobile Number'
Step 7: The user now needs to enter the new mobile number that s/he wants to record in the database.
In order to update your mobile number online, make sure thart the existing number linked to Aadhaar is functional. As the OTP to authenticate the updation would be sent to the existing mobile number only.
