UGC-NET 2018 results declared; Record 55,000 clear Eligibility Test for Assistant Professor's post; 3,929 clear Junior Research Fellowship

UGC-NET 2018 results: In the University Grant Commission-National Eligibility Test (UGC- Net 2018) exam plus Junior Research Fellowship, as many as 55,872 candidates have qualified for the first time. Last year, 38,000 candidates could clear the UGC Net examination. The candidates who cleared the test for JRF were 3,929. 
 
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) declared the results in a record of three-week  time. The examination was conducted on July 8 and the results were announced yesterday. Earlier, the results declaration used to take place in more than three months.
 
According to a statement issued by the CBSE, a total of 11,48,235 candidates had registered for the examination, out of whom over 85,000 appeared and 55,872 qualified to be eligible to apply for the post of Assistant Professor.
 
A total of 3,929 candidates emerged eligible to apply for both Assistant Professor and Junior Research Fellowship. The examination was conducted in 84 subjects. 
 
The exam took place in 2082 examination centres, 2864 observers and 675 Board's officials were deputed on these centres.
 
There was a change this time in the number of papers, where instead of three there were only two papers. 
 
As per the University Grants Commission (UGC) policy, six per cent of those who appear in both papers and obtain minimum qualification marks in both papers` aggregate are declared NET qualified.

This was the last UGC NET exam conducted by the CBSE, because after December 2018, the exam will be conducted by National Testing Agency (NTA) in computer-based model for 10 days in multiple shifts, instead of one day.
