Train Cleanliness Survey 2018: These are the cleanest trains - Find out
210 trains categorised under premium and non-premium have been covered by the 'Train Cleanliness Survey 2018'. The survey has been done keeping in mind the ratings given by the passengers on the cleanliness of toilets and inadequate cleaning of coaches.
In a survey, it has been found that Pune-Secunderabad and Howrah-Ranchi Shatabdi trains are the cleanest trains among the 77 premium trains. The survey that had been conducted last year by the India Railways had placed the three Duronto trains at the bottom of the list. On the other hand, among 23 Rajdhani trains, Mumbai-New Delhi Rajdhani has been ranked the cleanest and the New Delhi-Dibrugarh is at the bottom. 210 trains categorised under premium and non-premium have been covered by the 'Train Cleanliness Survey 2018'. The survey has been done keeping in mind the ratings given by the passengers on the cleanliness of toilets and inadequate cleaning of coaches.
The survey has been conducted by Indian Railways with the help of feedback from over 15,000 passengers.
According to a report by Times of India, this is the first such survey by the environment and housekeeping management wing of railways. The ranking has been done on the basis of the audit, direct observation, and passenger feedback.
The passengers gave feedback on a scale of zero to five on the basis of the cleanliness of toilets, working of housekeeping staff, cleanliness of bedrolls, the effectiveness of pest management, availability of the dustbins and cleanliness of the same.
TOI reported that an official admitted that cleanliness of the toilets in the trains is a big issue and is a difficult task as each toilet is used 60 times a day on an average. On the parameters of cleanliness of toilets, the passengers feedback on Shatabdi trains category is 243, which is average and in the case of Duronto trains, passengers rated it as low as 207.
