Delhi weather update: Scorching heat to continue; mercury still in 30s at night, orange alert issued
Meanwhile, Delhi's air quality index (AQI) was recorded in the poor category with a reading of 215 at 9 AM, according to the Central Pollution Control Board.
On Sunday, June 16, the capital recorded a minimum temperature of 33.2 degrees Celsius, which was 5.7 degrees above the season's normal.
The weather agency India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicts mostly clear skies and a heatwave for the day. According to the official report, the highest temperature would most likely be about 45 degrees Celsius.
The humidity was 42 per cent at 8.30 AM.

An AQI of 0–50 is regarded as acceptable, 51–100 as fair, 101–200 as moderate, 201–300 bad, 301–400 as extremely poor, and 401–500 as severe.
Orange alert issued in Delhi
The city will be on "orange" alert over the next three days, which means "Be prepared" in IMD colour codes.
Rainfall in eastern, north-east region
On the other side, IMD has predicted light to moderate rainfall over the eastern and northeast regions of Sub-Himalyan West Bengal, Sikkim, West Assam, Meghalaya, and West Arunachal Pradesh for today.
The met body has also said that occasional intense spells of rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds are "very likely" in the region.
"Heavy to very heavy rainfall with isolated extremely heavy falls very likely to continue over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Assam and Meghalaya during next 4-5 days," IMD said in an X post.
