After closing with marginal losses on Thursday, the stock markets today opened in the green. While the Sensex was trading at 38,440.29, up by over 129 points or 0.34 per cent soon after the markets opened, the broader market NSE Nifty 50 was trading 11,347.55, up by over 47 points or 0.42 per cent around this time.

In the 30 share BSE Sensex, 23 stocks were trading in the green in the early morning trade while the remaining were trading in the red. The top gainers on Friday in the early trade were Larsen and Toubro (LT), Tata Steel, Sun Pharmaceuticals, TCS and SBI while the top losers were Power Grid, HCL Technologies, Bajaj Auto and Ultratech Cement.  

Meanwhile, LT, Tata Steel, Bharti Infratel and UPL were the top gainers on Nifty Fifty on Friday in the opening trade. The top losers were Power Grid, Eicher Motors, BPCL, HDFC Life and HCL Technologies.  

Today, the USDINR futures were trading at 74.9550 around against the USD at 9:25 am on BSE.  

On Thursday, the Sensex ended at 38,310.49, down by almost 59 points lower than the previous close while the Nifty 50 closed at 11,300.45, also down by over 7 points. 

Australian S&P/ASX 200 futures were down 0.05 per cent, while Japan`s Nikkei 225 futures were up 0.06 per cent after the Nikkei 225 index closed up 1.78 per cent at 23,249.61 on Thursday. The futures contract is down 0.11 per cent from that close. Hong Kong`s Hang Seng index futures were down 0.13 per cent.

E-mini futures for the S&P 500 rose 0.13 per cent. MSCI`s gauge of stocks across the globe shed 0.04 per cent. The dollar index fell 0.141 per cent. The Japanese yen weakened 0.03 per cent versus the greenback at 106.96 per dollar.
