Stock Market Today: On account of strong domestic institutional investors (DIIs) the Indian indices opened in the green zone on Friday. The BSE Sensex rose 218 points and hit 36,689 mark while the NSE Nifty surged 53 points to 10,793 levels. Bank Nifty rose 158 points in the early morning trade session and touched 21,755 levels. Realty, metal, IT and tech stocks were among the major gainers in the opening bell trade session.

Speaking on the current stock markets; SEBI registered technical equity analyst Simi Bhaumik said, "The NSE Nifty is trading in a broader range of 10,500 to 10,850. It has strong support at the lower level and has equally strong resistance at the upper range. Hence, bullish or bearish trend can be said only after the breaking of either side of the range. Any dip in the market has to be seen as a buying opportunity."

Shares of Jamna Auto Industries, Oberoi Realty, Bharti Infratel, Tata Steel, ONGC, NTPC, GAIL and Bajaj Finance were among the major gainers in the early morning trade session while shares of Omaxe, Reliance Power, YES Bank, Reliance Capital and Magma Fincorp were among the majore losers in the intraday trade session.

Metal stocks led the bull run on Dalal Street in the early morning trade session as the BSe Metal index rose around 1.85 per cent. Metal major Steel Authority of India Ltd or SAIL share price surged 4.49 per cent, National Aluminium Company or NALCO shares shot up 3.11 per cent, NMDC counter went northward 3.35 per cent, Tata Steel stocks soared 3.20 per cent while JSW Steel scrip added 2.59 per cent.

Among the major Asian markets, the Japanese Nikkei shed 0.21 per cent, South Korean Kospi went up 0.76 per cent, Hong Kong's Hang Seng scaled up 0.50 per cent while the Shanghai index went down 0.51 per cent.

At Wall Street yesterday, Dow Jones went down 0.50 per cent, NAsdaq tanked 0.73 per cent, SmallCap 2000 crashed 0.90 per cent while the S&P 500 went off 0.34 per cent.
