SBI Bank Holiday 2022: State Bank of India branches closed on 31 August to public on account of Ganesh Chaturthi in these cities

SBI Bank Holiday 2022: India’s largest public sector bank the State Bank of India (SBI) will remain open for banking operations in many major cities in India including Delhi, Kolkata, Chennai and Mumbai. However, they will remain closed for the public in certain cities.

According to the information available on the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), banks will remain closed for public in certain cities across India as per the orders of local administration on account of Ganesh Chaturthi on 31 August 2022. These cities are Ahmedabad, Belapur, Bengaluru, Bhubaneswar, Chennai, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Nagpur, Panaji.

This means that in other major cities, the banks will be open for banking for general public.

Ganesh Chaturthi is also known as Samvatsari (Chaturthi Paksha) / Varasiddhi Vinayaka Vrata or Vinayakar Chathurthi. 

In August, banks were shut on 11 working days across the country based on local holidays announced by the state administrations.    

Meanwhile, in September, banks will be closed on 8 days in different cities.

In certain cities Ganesh Ghaturthi will be celebrated on 1 September. On 6 September there is Karma Puja; on 7th, 8th and 9th September, there will be bank holidays on account First Onam, Thiruvonam and Indrajatra.

The banks will also remain closed for people on 10th, 21st and 26th September on account of Sree Naravana Guru Javanthi, Sree Narayana Guru Samadhi Day and Navtatri Sthapna/Mera Chaoren Houba of Lainingthou Sanamahi.
