The Spanish-made Talgo train will be going for its final trial on September 10.

This final trial is conducted to determine whether Talgo can complete the journey between Delhi and Mumbai, by delivering the passenger within 12 hours to their destination.

It is expected that the Talgo will depart from Delhi at  2:45 pm and is scheduled to reach Mumbai in 11 hours and 45 minutes, while running at 150 km per hour.

Till now three trials have been conducted for Talgo, in which it couldn't manage to reach at the expected speed and time. 

On September 8, the train reached Mumbai 18 minutes late from Delhi in its fourth trial.

The tracks between Delhi and Mumbai cover about 1,400 km. Currently, the Rajdhani Express makes the journey in 16 hours. While Talgo is planned to reach the destination four hours early from Rajdhani Express. 

Talgo- involves nine super light weight coaches consisting of two executive class cars, four chair cars, a cafeteria, a power car and a tail-end coach for staff and equipment. It can hit upto 200 km per hour. 

The railways will accumulate the results of technical and speed tests to determine whether to buy the Talgo coaches.

Railway officials on Zee Business, said the bids will also be sought from other manufacturers for similar high-speed light-weight coaches.

In May, Talgo's first phase trials began between Izzatnagar to Bhojipura stations on the Bareilly-Moradabad rail route. The speed of the train at that time was 80-120 km per hour.
