The monsoon has been travelling northwards in India successfully with heavy to moderate and light rainfall in various regions of the country. Guess what! You might want to consider carrying umbrella every day for this week now, because government’s weather forecaster India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy rains across the country. According to IMD,  the monsoon trough has further shifted northwards today. It is likely to shift further northwards towards the foothills of the Himalayas during next 24 hours and
remain there during next 3­4 days.

IMD warns about heat rains in this week. It comes as a cautious sign for working class citizens, travellers, airlines and railways whose daily operations may slow down in coming days.

Consequently, rainfall activity is very likely to occur at most places with isolated heavy to very heavy falls over northern parts of Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Punjab, Haryana & Chandigarh, Western Himalayan region with extremely heavy falls at isolated places over foothill­regions of Uttarakhand, East Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Sub­Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim and Meghalaya during next 2 days, as per IMD.

Rain and thunder showers were observed at most places  over Arunachal Pradesh, Konkan & Goa, Coastal Karnataka, Bihar, Jharkhand, Sub­Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim and Lakashdweep.

Even places over Uttarakhand, Assam, Meghalaya,  Uttar Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Vidarbha, Telangana, Kerala and Andaman & Nicobar Islands also were among heavy rain witnesser.

Few showers were seen in places like  Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh & Delhi,  Gangetic West Bengal & Sikkim, East Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Tamilnadu & Puducherry; at isolated places over  Jammu & Kashmir, East Rajasthan, Gujarat, Rayalaseema and Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura.

Meteorological sub­division wise detailed 5 days precipitation forecast. 

IMD says, "No significant change in maximum   temperatures over most parts of the country
during next 2­3 days."

It added, "Fairly widespread to Widespread rainfall with isolated heavy falls likely over Northeast
India and along West coast."

While scattered to fairly widespread rainfall activity likely over West, Central and east India.

Lastly, IMD adds, " Isolated rainfall likely over Northwest India."

Therefore, in case if you are planning to go out of house in this week, make sure you are well prepared.
