Sensex closes down 71 points after volatile trade
The Sensex touched a high of 25,519.26 points and a low of 25207.78 points in the day`s trade.
Key Indian equity market indices that opened in the green on Monday closed in the red after a day of volatile trade.
The 30-scrip Sensitive Index Sensex, which opened at 25,447.72 points, provisionally closed at 25,230.36 points (at 03.42 p.m.), down 71.54 points or 0.28% from the previous day`s close at 25,301.90 points.
The Sensex touched a high of 25,519.26 points and a low of 25207.78 points in the day`s trade.
Among the top gainers were Manappuram (8.61%), TTK Prestige (5.94%), Sadbhav Engineering (5.63%), City Union Bank (5.46%) and ITC (5.29%). The top losers were Cox & Kings (13.98%), Welspun Corp (11.52%), GVK Power & Infrastructure (9.29%), Britannia (8.61%) and Monsanto (8.58%).
The wider 50-scrip Nifty of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) also provisionally closed 18.65 points or 0.24% down at 7,731.05 points.
